When considering locations for your engagement session, Old Town Alexandria offers a myriad of gorgeous locations. From the cobblestone streets lined with colorful historic houses to the waterfront with the view of the Woodrow Wilson bridge, your portraits will have a one of a kind look.
The Carlyle House offers lush gardens with a brick path that winds through the flowers. A small gazebo can be utilized for a few snapshots. My favorite is the blue door surrounded by stone at the back of the house.
In the afternoon, light streams into the garden, illuminating the trees and breaking the sun into gorgeous beams. This photo was captured a few hours before the sunset in the garden.
The Carlyle House also hosts weddings and receptions. If you are planning a small intimate wedding, the gardens can accommodate your nuptials. The back portico can be covered with a tent to host your wedding reception, rain or shine.
The house is also located practically in the center of old town. The Alexandrian Hotel is less than two blocks away. Your friends and family that are traveling from out of town not only have hotels within a short walk of your venue, but waterfront restaurants like Blackwell Hitch or cozy ones like Virtue Feed and Grain.
If your guests choose to stay for a long weekend, they can sign up for historic tours hosted by tour guides in colonial era clothing. These guides act out the unique story of the early Alexandrians.
Alexandria also has the old town trolley that offers free service up and down King Street, convenient for guests that want to enjoy all that Old Town has to offer, but might have some physical limitations.
