The Belvedere is a Beaux Arts Style building located in Baltimore Maryland. The historic building boasts condominiums, offices, and also some of the most beautiful ballrooms in all of the city. It was Baltimore's first upscale hotel when it was built in 1903 and was the place to see and be seen by the highest in society.
It is also home to the famous Owl Bar. It's wood paneling has stood up to years of patrons looking for a drink. Wedding parties now use it to wait for the day to begin. It's also the scene of many afterparties once the reception has ended in one of the many spaces the Belvedere has to offer.
In this photo, the couple has just entered their reception. After their first dance, their friends and family all gathered on the dance floor to celebrate the horah. This dance, a tradition at Jewish wedding receptions, is one of our favorite events to capture on a wedding day. The couple is lifted up on sturdy chairs while their guests dance and clap in celebration along to Hava Nagila or another Jewish folk song. It's also popular during Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, a celebration that takes place on a child's thirteenth birthday.
