Maryland Fine Art Newborn Photography
As humans, we all have our own styles and genres that we like in life. Architecture, art, clothing, books, movies, and even the way we want to have our memories preserved in photos. Adding a new addition to your family is a big event and you need to consider how you would like it captured.
If you are unfamiliar with the different approaches to newborn photography, let us help you get acquainted.
- At home lifestyle sessions. These sessions the photographer comes to you. There are no posed scenes. Just you, your family, and your baby in your home. These sessions are very relaxed and feature you and your newborn as you go about your new routine. Typically, there will also be some photos of baby in the nursery or the family all snuggled up in bed together. While convenient because you don't have to travel, it does require some tidying up and creating space for the photographer to work in.
- At home posed sessions. This particular session, the photographer brings the backdrops and props to you. These are typically more expensive due to the time and preparation that goes into bringing the studio to your home. It's also important to have a space where the photographer can set up the in home studio. These sessions are longer than in studio sessions since each set up needs to be created, used, and broken down before the next.
- Lifestyle/posed hybrid sessions. Here the photographer might create one posed set up and then capture the rest very casually in the home and nursery.
- in studio posed sessions. Here all you have to do is bring the baby. The photographer typically has 3-5 custom backdrops, props, and scenes for the baby. These sessions move faster than in home posed sessions. You can relax in the studio lounge or convenient parents' room (also perfect for diaper changes, nursing, or a little quiet time for baby). There is also a simple background for some family photos as well.
Each session has it pros and cons, and each can vary depending on the style of the photographer you choose. Be sure to do your research and find the session, photographer, and photography style that fits your vision for your baby's first portraits.
