Northern Virginia offers a wide variety of venues within an hour or less of our nation's capital. When considering venues, you must ask yourself what kind of feel you want for the backdrop of your wedding photographs.
Closer to the city, there are many elegant historic homes and stately and large banquet halls, trendy restaurants, and modern hotels.
As you venture farther out toward the mountains, farms and vineyards appear among the foothills. Many of these wineries and farms have been renovated as wedding venues.
One of my favorites is Riverside on the Potomac. Owned by Suzi and Travis Worsham, this home with it's stone facade, dates back to the early 1800s. The Worshams have lovingly restored and filled the home with priceless antiques and one of a kind period pieces of furniture. Beautiful light streams through the windows midday while your family and friends are helping you into your gown before you walk down the aisle.
Just down the hill from the home, a spacious patio sits with a small pond in the background. There is plenty of room to accommodate your guest as they witness you vow your lives to each other.
After the ceremony, as the sun is streaming golden light over the hills and trees, you can enjoy some moments alone with your new spouse. Your guests can enjoy a cocktail hour in the repurposed horse stables below the main barn.
The reception space in the upper level of the barn has been restored and decorated to perfection by Suzi. There is ample space for dancing, seating dining, and even a comfortable sitting area for those guests that just want to relax after enjoying their dinner.
Clean and spacious restrooms along with a small suite for the newly married couple to steal away is just a few feet from the barn.
The venue also allows sparkler exits if you are searching for a place where you can have a dreamy exit as your friends light your way.
